4 Months and Matt's Foot

Kate turned 4 months last week and she is learning new things every day! It is so much fun to watch her. I am amazed at how fast she is growing. It makes me excited for the new stuff she will be doing and learning, but sad she is growing so fast at the same time.

She rolled over for the first time (from her tummy to her back - rolling to the left) the day before her 4 month birthday. Kate was on her mat and Matt and I were eating breakfast watching her and all of a sudden there she went. Matt and I looked at each other and had to ask if the other saw what they had seen. She then started rolling over to her right side a few days later. So exciting! Just this weekend she started sitting up unassisted. She also loves to grab her toes and suck on her left thumb.

On Friday we went to her 4 month doctor's appointment and here are her stats:

Length: 25.2 inches - 78th percentile
Weight: 15 pounds 0 ounces - 74th percentile
Head: 15.6 inches - 13th percentile

We really have struggled with her sleeping, especially with her naps. She just will not sleep more than a half hour on her own and so she is very tired and grumpy. We have read books and have tried many different approaches to get her to sleep longer, but to no avail. So, we hired a sleep consultant to help us with this. Today was day 2 of our sleep action plan. So far the night has improved greatly, but the day is still pretty much the same. I am hoping this week we will see results in her daytime sleep.

On a different note, Matt had his 3rd and final (hopefully) surgery on his foot last Wednesday. They cleaned it out again and then sewed it up. He was especially greatful to get rid of his wound vac as well as his picc line. He now feels a whole lot freer, but still has to be on crutches for a few more weeks :( We are hoping he can go back to work and school shortly.

Kate does get to spend more time with her daddy, though. She absolutely adores him. It is so fun!
