Before and After

Here is Matt's foot before...

(The blue stuff is a hydrophobic solution used to keep the skin from absorbing moisture)

And here is after!

Sorry if this grossed you out. On April 8th Matt had his 4th surgery. This time, we hope, was the last of the surgeries since we decided to go ahead with the amputation of his second toe and a portion of his second metatarsal. The infection had gone into his bone. So, to stop the spread of infection, they took out the infected portion. Also, because of the infection the bone was dissolving so it wasn't any good to him anyway.

We were also grateful this past week because for about 2 and a half weeks the doctor put him on orders not to have contact with baby Kate and me (because I am nursing) because she did not know what the exact bacteria was that was causing the infection. They were able do a culture after the surgery to find out we weren't in harms way so Yeah! We could then give daddy a big hug! It was definitely a rough few weeks for all of us...and has been a rough couple of months as well. We are hoping for a fast recovery so Matt can start walking again.

On a different note, last weekend we decided we had been responsible enough the past couple of years with our tax return that we could get something fun...a new table!!! We are so excited and love having it in our home. Our previously table was a hand-me-down game table from my parents, which we were extremely grateful for, but with our small nook area, the large comfy chairs were getting in the way.

Kate had fun helping daddy out.

And testing it out for sterdyness

Tada!

Here are also a few random pics of Kate...

New shoes!
